The educational attainment of Korean women has improved over the past five decades due to a combination of economic development and improved living standards. In 1966, only 33 percent of elementary school girls continued their education and attended middle school, while the corresponding figures for high school and university were 20 percent and 4 percent, respectively
korean women. By 1998, these figures had increased to 99.5% and 61.6 percent, respectively, indicating that women in South Korea have made substantial progress towards the goal of economic inclusion. However, these advances in educational attainment have not been reflected in the labor market.
